Over the past few weeks, Baverstock Opticians has still been open for urgent and essential eyecare, ordering of replacement spectacles, carrying out repairs and ordering contact lenses. We have also been preparing for new times with a new look and new protocols for when we able to able to extend our services again. We are anticipating more routine examinations to be available from some time in July.
What you can expect when you next visit
For the foreseeable future, we will be operating on a locked door policy. This will enable us to control the number of patients in the practice at anytime.
As well as a completely new look, there will be perspex screens at reception and social distancing will be maintained where possible. PPE will be worn by staff as advised, according to their responsibility in the practice.
We will be adapting some procedures, and eye examinations may take a little longer as we implement additional sanitising of equipment, regular disinfection of door handles and frequent cleaning of frames throughout the day.
We would please ask you to attend appointments with a face covering and to use hand sanitiser on entering and leaving the building.
In the waiting room, we have removed all magazines, leaflets and most of the chairs. As there will be a limit on patients in the building at any one time, we request that adults attend on their own and children, with only one adult please.
Waiting List
As we have currently 12 weeks of backlog to get through and also our ‘due now’ appointments to attend to, we have inevitably developed a longer waiting time for appointments. We also have to allow more time for each patient, but are hoping to offer more time slots for appointments.
We will be prioritising patients where there is a clinical importance for being seen, however, if you feel that you have a concern with the health of your eyes or have deteriorating vision, then please contact us and we can arrange an appointment.
Obviously, we are all aware that the situation can change quite quickly and we may still have to change how we work, but please contact the practice before heading out to see us. You can contact us by phone 015395 62633 or by email eyecare@lmbaverstockopticians.co.uk
May we take this opportunity to say thank you to all our patients for your continued support and understanding. We are looking forward to welcoming you back when it is safe and able to do so.
